Got a thing for men in tights? For glutes, thighs, and biceps? You should! Don’t miss the Superbowl this Sunday for the biggest spectacle in sport. And Justin Timberlake at half-time.
Physical specimens like these are the natural consequence of weight-lifting. Add in yoga and the magic happens. As powerful as these athletes
are, their flexibility gives them the fluidity to slither through a wall of bone and meat. Launching themselves airborne over anything they can’t go around or catch.
Without injury to a surprising degree. Let this football game inspire you. You too can be poetry-in-motion in your own way. Don’t let your limbs be whittled down to sticks that can barely function. Barely lift you
out of a chair and open a door.
That’s not age as people often say. That’s accumulated neglect coming to its logical conclusion. Be like those athletes on the field. Make an honest and interesting combination of workouts part of your daily life. Do it for yourself and your loved ones, and the people who want to keep you around.
Friday Night Yoga is the best way to start your weekend. Looking forward to seeing you.
My father told me. His Old Man would go to the bar for “lunch” back in the day. He’d order 10 doubles, and knock them back in quick succession.
My grandfather died of cirrhosis of the liver at 59. My age now. He grew a big bulbous pregnant-like stomach. Not only fat. You could tell the liver itself was swollen, hard.
The road to tremendous health is paved with little rituals. Not drinking for the month of January is one of mine. Yoga, Abs, Weight-lifting Classes are another.
Count on these rituals for lasting mobility and longevity. Abs Class massages the liver and all the organs like they’ve never been massaged before. It’s worth it just for that. Not to mention gorgeous wash-board abs.
It’s Ian’s turn to do his magic this Friday at yoga. And Ian always brings something special to the mat. Something seemingly new even if its origins are in antiquity.
Last time he took us on a meditative journey down a rustic path, taking rest in a healing cave. It was a relief to escape the brutal realities of winter just outside the door. I can’t remember much about that cave because I dozed off. And drifted in beta-state of semi-consciousness.
The intention of yoga is not only to stretch your muscles but relax your entire nervous system. And why not use all means at your disposal. For my class the next week I put up a 27-minute video on the flat-screen from YouTube entitled “Inner Strength & Courage Calming Spoken Meditation.”
The video was compatible with Restorative Yoga, where poses are held for as long as 5 minutes. The words and imagery transport you, and can even bring tears to your eyes. The stretching is a release on many levels. And when you leave, you not only feel more flexible and resilient in your joints and muscles, but deep inside.
Come be pleasantly surprised at Friday Night Yoga. And bring that energizing repose to Saturday Abs the next morning. Weight-lifting Tuesday is the next best thing to Personal Training… but nothing is more effective than PT for powerful results.
Here, at Panacea Studio, we cap every fitness class with a smoothie, included in the price of admission.
Why? Because a properly done smoothie is one of the healthiest things you can put in your body, for reducing cholesterol, combating diabetes, bolstering the immunity system, improving digestion and nutritional absorption, combating all kinds of diseases.
The Smoothie is a vital tool in your anti-aging toolkit. Here are a variety of ingredients I throw into the blender, depending on the circumstances, and not necessarily all at once: some kind of green, mint or arugula for example, with nature’s candy, fruit, sometimes a whole free range egg with calcium-packed shell, high-quality Whey protein.
Fruit has gotten a bad rap lately because of the sugar content. Fruit is mistakenly grouped in with artificial sugar. Natural sugar is a different animal than artificial sugar. Fruit is one of the best dehydrators going.
A smoothie needs to be creamy, delicious. Blend well. Lately I’ve been adding another green powder from the health food store, Moringa. Also called Horse Radish Leaves in Asian stores. Very prevalent in tropical countries like the Philippines, where it’s call Malunggay.
Great for liver health, a treatment for Alzheimer, lowering cholesterol, good for all kinds of stuff. Check out the impressive list of what’s in Moringa:
Don’t make resolutions. Initiate routines, processes.
Going to Abs Class is a routine, for example. Dedicating every Saturday morning to the mat, trimming the abs, obliques, fixing the lower and upper back, not to mention squats, is a process.
An annual process I’m committing to is abstaining from drink for the month of January. Since my brother and I did this last year it has become a process, not just a resolution.
And I’ll continue to tap into the mysterious powers of fasting through Intermittent Fasting. For disease prevention, lowering blood pressure, countering hyperglycemia, anti-aging, longevity, weight-loss, increasing the natural production of HGH for muscle development.
The decade-long ritual of Friday Night Yoga continues to have a profoundly positive impact on my body. That routine I’m more and more grateful for as the years go by. And in conjunction with Weight-lifting Tuesdays you’ve got your bases covered.
Yoga, Abs, Weight-lifting, it all starts back up now! Tonight!Come join in.
