Good Routines

It’s taken decades to achieve what I believe is a near-ideal balance in my ever-evolving workout regime. No area of neglect, or excessive attention to one aspect of fitness over the other. A diversified exercised portfolio, sort of speak.negril.food

You see this. The person into yoga only, to the exclusion of resistance training or cardio. Or the muscle-head who’d never go near a spin class out of a fear it’ll make him smaller.

Not to claim perfection in other areas, by any means. Certain liver-abusing substances I could probably do a little less of. But the balance of power I have in my body is what I teach others.

Weight-lifting Tuesdays is tonight! Soft-skills on display at yoga this Friday. And don’t forget, never forget, Saturday Abs.

Ciao, your favourite trainer, Pietro

Hiring A Personal Trainer

Find yourself a fit personal trainer older than most. Because he or she is experience with body types other than their own.

I’ve seen this a lot: the muscle-ly 23 year adept at training other jock-ish twenty-somethings but clueless when it comes to  a 68 year old women with an arthritic knee.22789029_10212584470639593_8403786710533834720_n

She requires a whole different skill-set. The trainer’s repertoire of exercises that work so well on himself is un-doable, or evenhazardous, for someone older with a more complicated array of issues.

The exercises are modified for optimum effectiveness. The level of difficulty is calibrated, and suddenly you’re making real progress. Nothing is more motivating than tangible success. And if that success isn’t forthcoming, you become frustrated and discouraged.

Classes are back with Ian tonight 22730458_10212584470399587_4041088309835173911_nat yoga. Don’t forget Saturday Abs, and Tuesday Weight-lifting.

Ciao, Pietro
