Better Than Sex

Nothing is better than sex.

If your first thought was food, you’ve got a long way to go. You could use a good personal trainer(((:

Shopping. Watching hockey.

Discover core-work. The pleasurable art of building strength and endurance in the mid-section. It’s not only great for vanity, the health benefits are staggering. The major organs getting a good old fashioned drubbing.

Drop what you’re doing! That dusty old routine. You can do this in your favourite room.  Musically I prefer to start easy, cranking it up after 20 minutes.

To coincide with those long sets with a weight behind your head. Brutalizing your belly, call it what you will. All that tension in your solar plexis dispersed throughout the abs, the engine of the machine that is your body.

You may never had abs before, it doesn’t matter. Come to Core N Stretch on Saturdays at 10. Make core work the priority, don’t forget, the top does most the work. So take turns sharing the workload.

Ciao, Pietro

Doing Less

Knowing how to rest is one of the most useful skills you’ll ever learn. Especially if you’re working out at near capacity.

But even if you’re a slug.

Sleep is more restful once you’ve burned off that daily nervous energy. Relaxing, letting go, is opposite of the high-octane aggression of a spin class.

Both are required. The more you have of one, the more you need of the other. However you like to do it, whenther it be lying on the couch reading or watching the latest HBO special, most things you think you need to do, you don’t.

Eliminating the unconscious fear-based frenetic activity creates room for new growth. Doing nothing conserves resources, at the very least. So that when you finally do swing back into action, you do so with verve.

So appreciate those lazy moments laying prone in a dark room. And take it as far as you can. Sometimes nothing is the most productive thing you can do.

Come to hot yoga! Por favor.

Passionate Work Ethic

An athletic background is one of the greatest gifts you can give a kid. Having the energy to meet life’s challenges fearlessly is more valuable than any specific skill.

Even if he or she doesn’t crack the big leagues.

A sedentary child becomes sluggish by adulthood and decrepit by middle age, if nothing is done. Many believe that downward spiral is a nature consequence of getting older. The culture supports this. And it’s not true.

So be a strong example for the ones you love. The passionate work ethic of an athlete is the drive to succeed.

Come to hot yoga alone, or with family and friends. Wednesday night. Or Core N Stretch on Saturday, if you dare.

Ciao, Pietro
