We’re going to hold off on the Workout At The Park. Let’s keep it at home for now.
Come join us for Friday Night Yoga with Dulce the cat. On Facebook Live at 730 pm. And again the next morning for the Battle of the Bulge, Saturday Abs Class, 10 am. Fix you back, decimate your muffin top.
Come join us on Facebook Live tonight for Friday Night Yoga, 730 pm. And tomorrow for Saturday Abs Class, 10 am.
I integrate targeted stretching into my yoga classes. Without diminishing the meditative perspective.
Due to age and body type, perhaps, I require a concentrated effort on the spine, hips, hamstrings, knees, groin, etc.. I lure you in. You’re mood shifts. And together we apply that calm focused awareness into areas of stubborn resistance.
Exercise is meditation. If you’re moving without awareness you’re really just going through the motions.
Getting stiff? Come to Facebook Live for Friday Night Yoga, 730 pm. Getting big in the belly even though you couldn’t possibly be pregnant? Come to Saturday Abs Class, 10 am.
Yes, my router finally came. The wifi is better than ever.
Come join us online at Facebook Live for Friday Night Yoga, 730 pm. To get there just search my name, Peter Gault. And Saturday Abs Class, 10 am. No charge.
These two classes are the perfect foil. They represent opposites. Yoga is primarily based on the pleasure principle. Those long extended poses can go from pleasure to pain and back again. Or vise versa.
I like to set the stage.Clean, diffuse with lavender, lower the lights. This is the time to forget the debate. Yoga isn’t about thinking. Anybody can do that. It about releasing judgement, and fostering awareness of your body and beyond.
And you get a deep medicinal stretch. You curl, arch, twist the spine. You open the hips, groin, knees. You create space in the joints. And you do all this by utilizing gravity, and exerting yourself as little as possible.
In Abs Class, I beat you up, strategically. Don’t expect to be able to do it perfectly your first try. Be patient, make smart decisions. Cheat when you have to. This is something you have to work up to. It will happen. Suddenly, you’ll be able to do the whole thing impeccably.
See you Friday Night. And Saturday morning. Love your neighbour, from a distance:)
Yes, yes, I hear yah. Classes are going online.
Bikini season is around the corner. Or should I say Brazilian Thong Season? How are you feeling about your body?
The body tends to insulate in cold weather. It gets flabby, pasty. You avoid displaying your body publicly. You don’t go near the beach, pool, hot tub, undermining your enjoyment of life.
Unless, of course, you’re been coming to Abs Class religiously. In which case you’re significantly better off. You tend towards your optimum. You may still need to darken, tweak your diet to get at those hard-to-get at places.
And as vain as that might be, there’s nothing like it for your confidence. And your health. So be vain. Join us for Saturday Abs Class.
And Friday Night yoga, Weightlifting Tuesdays.
It’s amazing the jolt you get from a week of relaxation in the sun. Physically, mentally, in terms of your immune system, you feel like you have almost supernatural endurance.
Provided, of course, you’re coming out a vigorous daily regiment of workout classes and exercise. If you’re a fitness instructor vacations are a time to step off the hamster wheel. And the energy usually reserved for repairing the body floods back into the reserve bank.
You come back stronger. Look at Sidney Crosby’s triumphant return from injury this season. He’s on fire from the rest he was forced to take. So much so his team goes a winning streak. One year he won the Stanley Cup due to a timely injury, teeing him up for the playoffs.
Not to suggest I’m Sidney Crosby. Though the similarities are obvious:) All the best developments in my game have come directly following a break in the fray, and returning with a fresh perspective.
Come re-create yourself tonight at Weight-lifting Tuesdays. Don’t forget Friday Night Yoga, you need that. Make the most neglected part of you body the primary focus @ Saturday Abs.
Sleep is elusive to many of us normal neurotic urbanites. It may even require artificial pharmaceutical inducement . Or something better health-wise, some vigorous biological function to relax the nervous system. Wink, wink.
Whatever it takes. Now’s the time to indulge those extra Zzzs. Roll over, go back to sleep. Don’t even set the alarm unless absolutely necessary. Sleep is what your body needs to stand up against the invading horde of pathogens.
Make like a bear and hibernate. It’s your best defense. Fortify your immune system with sleep and rest. And after this weekend is the perfect time because there’s no classes next week.
Don’t sleep in this Saturday morning, remember. Classes are on. Friday Yoga celebrates the end of Dry January, hallelujah, then Saturday Abs. The next class after the break is February 11, 14, 15.
Stay healthy, Pietro
Complacency is the real enemy. Complacency in terms of fidelity and variety of your exercise regime.
It’s always easier to roll over, and go back to sleep. Or get stuck in a specific routine long-past its expiry date. It’s called plateauing. Fossilizing into a dead thing rather than re-creating yourself into a living growing organism.
That’s why its always a good idea to incorporate a new pose into every Yoga Class, every Abs Class. Or an experimental movement along with the usual go-tos. You adopt a pattern. And then the pattern begins to morph
This spirit of adventure keeps us young. This is how we stay interesting to our children. Not by becoming habituated and predictable in our thinking, diet, political opinions, whatever it is.
Unlock your potential. It starts with the body. But it includes the mind. See you at class.
No classes the first week in February. So get them in while you can.
